Fundamentals of GDPR Training Course

When: 13th November 2019, 09:45-13:00

New to GDPR or need a refresher? This half day training session will introduce GDPR to delegates, describe the differences between the Data Protection Act 1998 and provide practical steps that need to be taken in order to start and continue implementing GDPR.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect on the 25th of May 2018 and is the most significant change to data protection law in almost 20 years. The GDPR strengthens a number of existing principles and introduces more rights for individuals in the use of their personal data. GDPR should not be viewed as a tick-box exercise, that once ‘compliant’ it can be forgotten about. Charities and small businesses need to view the regulation as one that requires on going monitoring and adherence.

By the end of this session you will:

  • Understand the basic principles of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
  • Know what the key differences are between GDPR and the Data Protection Act
  • Understand the challenges for charities to address
  • Be confident in the steps you need to take to implement GDPR

Where: OCVA Offices, Oxford Office Furniture Training Suite, The Old Court House, Floyds Row, St Aldates, OX1 1SS

They often involve the exposure of personal data (such as name, address and financial details), with additional damage to the company or organisation in terms of potential financial loss and reputational damage.
